It has been repeated to me in my youth that the Bible is Truth. "The Bible is God's word." So naturally, when I wanted to learn more about Truth, I first turned to the Bible.
Early on I reasoned that if Truth existed, it would be self-evident; it would not be necessary for me to call upon someone or something outside of my own experience in order to know it. How else could Truth be known if it were not a direct, inner experience?
As I read the Bible it turned out that nearly 6000 years ago God only picked one family, namely the family of Abraham and his descendants, to be his chosen people. At the time, Abraham's family was average size, but after about 8 generations it grew into a formidable army.
What follows is my experience of reading the first five books of the Old Testament. I have given links to online Bibles in several translations so you can check these facts for yourself as we go along. The last thing I want to do is say something about the Bible that's not true or mislead someone through my own misinterpretation.
When I started this exploration for Truth in the Bible, my only reason for reading the Bible and sharing it was to reveal the Truth. And that remains my only goal today. Here are my thoughts on the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses.
